What to Pack for a Trip to Miami
If you’re someone who procrastinates packing, having a list is always helpful. Additionally, going to a city like Miami where the party never stops can be difficult to pack for. This list will give you an idea of what to pack and why so you can be ready from the get-go!
Evening Attire
Let’s be honest. Miami is not a city where you can get away wearing a bathing suit all the time. You’ll need clothing appropriate for any given activity you do, so make sure you have casual clothing for sightseeing, the daytime, and casual dining. You’ll want nicer clothing for any fine dining or special activities you engage in. Finally, if you want to hit the night-life in Miami. You’ll need club-appropriate clothing. Bouncers aren’t impressed with running shoes, athleisure, or swim cover-ups. You’ll get turned away without a second glance for your shoes. Wear dress pants, no ripped jeans, nice shoes, and a nice shirt. Another item you might consider sticking in your bag is a sweater or a jacket in the winter. While Miami is incredibly warm during the day, once the sun goes down there can be a little bit of a chill in the air, especially when accompanied by a breeze. Save yourself this trouble if you want to dine outside or walk on the beach by bringing some layers!
Protection from the sun
Don’t forget… skin cancer exists! If you’re going to be catching some r&r on the beach, you’ll be catching some UV rays as well. Pack plenty of sunscreen, a pair of sunglasses, and a hat to protect yourself. It’s also never a bad idea to increase your water intake to prevent yourself from getting heat exhaustion. Beach and pool friendly items If you’re heading to Miami, you’re probably looking to hit some waves or hit the pool. Remember to bring at least one swimsuit (or a few depending on how long you’ll be there). You’ll want sandals that make it easy to handle both the sand and the water. Whatever sandals you bring, though, make sure they’re comfortable! Depending on where you stay, you could be walking a little way and blisters aren’t fun for anyone. Additionally, remember to bring a beach cover-up or a shirt so you can walk through the hotel lobby or down the street. Many hotels even have restrictions on individuals not wearing the proper amount of clothing.
Bug Repellent & Umbrellas
Something that’s often forgotten is bug spray. Remember that Miami is in Florida Going to Florida mean that you’ll need bug spray and an umbrella possible every single day. Florida may be the sunshine state, but that rain could sneak up on you at any moment. Due to the moisture in the area, you’ll also feel those pesky mosquitos and flies around you constantly. Save yourself some misery and remember to bring these items!
Lot’s of Money
Easier said than done, but let’s be real Miami is an expensive place to eat, drink and shop. The cover charges at some of the venues can go above $100. The drinks can cost at much as $24. A burger can cost as much as $26. If you’re going to go out, better know earlier than later, so you don’t get bogged down with the high prices. They’re high. Better you know now.
